Summer 2020 Information

Dear Parents and Students,

GRADES:  The last day of school is Friday, June 5.   Report cards will be mailed to you on Friday, June 12.   Call the school if you don’t receive yours by June 17.   If your student has not completed enough work to earn a passing grade, he or she will receive a grade of I for Incomplete.  An incomplete will not earn credit.  In order to earn credit for the quarter, the student must complete the work by August 1.

BORROWED COMPUTERS:  Please return your computer and charger to school as soon as your classwork is complete.   You may keep your computer IF you are completing a 4th quarter class.  You may keep your computer IF you have applied for summer school.   Otherwise, please bring the computer and charger back to school as soon as possible!   Please return library books you are finished reading.

SUMMER SCHOOL:  Yes, we are having summer school, and it’s almost all online.  We will have tutoring and computer work time available at school for students who need help or internet access.   Summer school is free and all students are invited to attend, but you must register.  The registration form is at this link:  https://forms.gle/fcS5fM6ovnqeme8y7.  Summer school begins June 22 and ends July 30.   Promise South Salt Lake is having a small in-person summer program (not in our building) in the afternoons.   There is information at the bottom of this page.

NEXT YEAR:  Students will be back in school on August 24!   Students (and adults) will probably have to wear masks, and there will be other important changes to help prevent the virus from spreading.   We will send another mailing in July with details.    We have space for new students, especially in grade 7 and the new grade 6.  Please let your friends and families know.  New students should apply as soon as possible to save a space.  New students can apply online at our website, call the school, or come into the building.  We will save space for all current students, so please contact us if you will NOT be returning to Utah International in August.   The calendar for 2020-2021 is on the back of this letter.  Be sure to save it!

GRADUATION:  Graduation for the class of 2020 is a quiet and private affair, but we know the whole community shares our pride in the graduating class and joins us in wishing them well.  The school building will be closed from 8:00 to 11:00 AM and from 3:00 to 4:00 PM on Thursday, June 4, to allow us to hold our small graduation ceremonies.

We wish you a peaceful and healthy summer and thank you for helping your students through this difficult quarter.
