These plans are for the current threat conditions, which are YELLOW for most of Salt Lake County. If conditions change to ORANGE, we may elect to change the plan, possibly returning to all-online school again. If conditions change to GREEN, we will probably resume daily live classes for all, but continue our other health safeguards.
This page gives an outline of the plan. For more details, you can click on the links throughout the plan.
Each family will be assigned to A day or B day. On your assigned day, you attend school as usual. On the other day, you stay home and do assignments on paper or on the computer. A and B days will alternate no matter the day of the week (except Saturday and Sunday). They are marked on the new school calendar.
Each student will be assigned a Chromebook and a carrying case. You will need to bring your Chromebook to school with you every day, and take it home every day. You will need to charge it at home, and remember not to drop it, squeeze it, or get it wet!
All students, staff and visitors must wear a mask at school, covering the mouth and nose at all times. We have a free mask for you! If you lose your mask, you can get a new one for $1. You need to keep your mask clean. You can take it off to eat and drink, but that’s the only time.
You will have assigned seats in all of your classes, and you will need to keep as far away from other people as you can. When you need to be close to someone, make sure it’s for a very short time. Don’t share food, drinks, phones, masks, or any other personal items that may carry germs.
Your teacher will sanitize tables and shared materials after each class, and you will need to help with this. You will need to bring a cup or bottle for drinking water, rather than drinking directly out of the water fountain.
School hours will change a little, so that everyone is not in the hall at the same time. Grades 11 and 12 will begin at 8:30 and end at 2:55. Grades 9 and 10 will begin at 8:35 and end at 3:00. Grades 6, 7 and 8 will begin at 8:40 and end at 3:05. Here is a link to the new bell schedule.
At lunch you will need to wait in line 6 feet from the next student. Lunches will be served to small groups, not to everyone at once. You will sit as far as possible from other students, and you will stay seated until excused. You will need to be very clean at lunch so we can quickly sanitize the tables for the next group. You will be able to go outside when you finish eating.
The after school program will start on September 8. You can attend after school if it is your day to be at school. It will begin with an academic hour in the cafeteria, where you can work on homework or read while having your snack. At 4:00 there will be clubs and activities. We will start some sports after all of the students know how to follow the new rules for safety.
If you are sick, it’s very important that you stay home until you are fully recovered. If you feel good enough, you can attend your classes on Zoom or Google Meet. If you have symptoms of covid-19, you will need to get a test and follow your doctor’s directions about staying home until you are not contagious. If someone you live with gets covid-19, you will need to stay home until everyone has recovered. You can attend your classes over Zoom or Google Meets if you are not sick yourself. Here is what the school will do if someone becomes sick at school or tests positive for covid-19.
If you are in a high risk category for covid-19, your parents can request all-online instruction for you. You will need to attend all of your classes on time through Zoom or Google Meets on A day or B day, and then do the same off-day work as the other students.
